As part of their Local Waterfront Revitalization Program, the Town of Cicero, the most populous lakeside municipality and an important gateway to Oneida Lake recreation, is conducting a survey of all Oneida Lake users. Their goal is to learn how people want to access and enjoy the lake, and the results will be used to inform future Town efforts to secure lakefront access, views, and natural resources. The survey and public comment opportunities (CiceroLWRP@gmail.com) are open to everyone, not just Town of Cicero residents. Take a moment to make your voice heard today!
The Oneida Lake Association Needs Your Help in identifying where Water Chestnut patches occur on the lake. Water Chestnuts are an invasive species that form dense, impenetrable mats of vegetation that displace native aquatic life, block sunlight, and reduce oxygen in the water. They also produce 0.5 inch barbed spines that can penetrate shoes and cause serious injury if stepped on.

They have triangular shaped leaves with jagged edges that float on the water’s surface.
If you see a patch, please email OLA Director Patricia Cerro-Reehil at pcr@reehil.com. She will be organizing a few weed pulls on the lake this summer.
